Butternut Squash
From the name, I thought there would be some taste of butter but there is not a single taste of it. Originated in the Central American region. The external surface has a smooth ribbed skin and shabby yellow color. The interior is golden-yellow to orange in color, and has looks like cylindrical. With no seeds inside, the fresh taste has a mild sweet but very bitter and astringent of the moisture as seen on the picture. Before cooking, it smells like fish and tastes like reddish zucchini.
After cooking with a pinch of salt and about 1 teaspoon of oil, leave the pan rest for 5 minutes. Once that is done, bake at 350 F for 15 minutes in the oven and the taste will totally change. The mild sweet taste will appear. I would like to introduce it to everyone because it can be prepared very simply. Also with a reasonable price you can serve it with almost every meal such as snacks, appetizers, or supper etc... Furthermore it has many necessary nutrients, especially vitamin A.
