Red bean soup or is been originated since a long time ago in Korea. Also it is known as Pat juk in Korea, being Korean tradition, it was consumed during the winter, close to new year, to drive evil spirits away so the new year so that the following year was full of good luck and fortune. I remember getting up early in the morning and watching my mother make this porridge for the whole family. My favorite part of the porridge was the small rice ball that was made from rice flower. I still remember the times that I put too much sugar in it making me having to add more of sugar into red bean porridge to neutralize the sweetness. I also invited my neighbor to have a soup for meal that was very different but pleasant. Especially, they liked part of red bean soup( liquid) but rice ball was too sticky to them. Overall they had enjoyed my red bean soup.
To make a soup, it takes more effort and is time consuming. Such as socking beans in advance, making rice balls or straining cooked red bean to make paste.
Also it needs to be continuously stirred, when on stove, to prevent soup sticking to the pot.
For future
Red bean contained lot of fiber so it stimulates your inner organs and rids your body of toxic waste so I would like to introduce another menu items with health benefits and also would like to apply quinoa grains and corn flower instead of rice flowers into the red bean soup for more abundant proteins.

Ingredients
- 1/2 squash (400g)
- 1 cup (250 ml) red bean
- 1/4 rice powder.( 85 ml)
- salt 2 tsp
- sugar to taste
- 4 cups(1000 ml) of water
- 2 L pot
- spatula

- soak red bean 1/2 of day
- peel pumpkin and cut squash into paysanne
- boiling red bean for 40 minutes or until soft --disregard the water.
- then mash red beanor roughly meshed desired.
- * (some people strain cooked red beans to avoid lumps )
- steam pumpkin for 20 minutes or until soft and mash
- knead rice power with hot water (80 degree of water) and make a small roll desired and set a side.
- mix red bean and pumpkin into the pot
- pour 4 cups of water in the pot into boiling -- *-need to stir with wooden spoon until starting boiling
- when boiling, add rice roll and boil until float the rice ball.
- add sugar , salt desired
- serve in a bowl
